Climb the Petit Piton in St. Lucia

Unique Caribbean Hike to an Epic View of St. Lucia

Upload New Main Image

St. Lucia is not just home to lush vegetation and beautiful beaches. it is also a great destination for hiking. Two famous Pitons can be found on the island, the Gros Piton and the Petit Piton, and both have trails to the top. The Pitons are steep volcanic plugs that formed from hardened magma.

The Gros Piton is the taller of the two Pitons (approx 2,600 ft), but the Petit Piton (approx 2,400) is the more challenging hike. The Gros Piton is more frequently hiked. The Petit Piton should only be considered for individuals who are experienced hikers and are comfortable with rock scrambling and rock climbing. It is recommended to hire a local tour guide for both hikes. The Petit Piton hike includes a series of ropes one must climb to make it to the peak and this can be especially dangerous if one is unfamiliar with the trail and/or not careful.

Even though it is hard work to make it to the top of either of the Pitons, the views from the top are worth it!
