Visit the Fly Geyser

Some call it unique. Others say it looks alien. What ever you call it, Fly Geyser is, indeed, a feast for the eyes.

If you take a road trip through the state of Nevada, be sure to drop by the Fly Ranch. The ranch consists of approximately 4,000 acres and is located near the town of Gerlach, Nevada. Here you can take a nature walk through wetlands, natural spring-water pools and sagebrush grasslands. A small playa gives way to the Hualapai Flat. For those who don’t know what a playa is and where Hualapai Flat is located; a playa is a pan shaped, flat, or dry lake. The playa has a flat-bottom depression and is typically found in interior desert basins. Generally they lie adjacent to coasts that are in arid and semiarid regions. Wikipedia states that Hualapai Flat (pronounced “wall-a-pie”) is a valley in northwestern Nevada, USA, located northwest of the Black Rock Desert. The two valleys are separated by the Calico Hills. The Granite Range marks the southern and western edges of Hualapai Flat. To the north the valley is constrained by the Granite Range and the Calico Hills. Washoe, Pershing, and Humboldt counties meet in the Hualapai Flat.1
While the different geological formations make the area very interesting and woth your while, it is a geyser that is the real attraction. When you first set eyes upon Fly Geyser you might be reminded of something out of a sci fi movie or a scene from the Harry Potter franchise. What a great place for Voldemort to make his return or for Harry Potter to practice his spells: “expecto patronum”.
